Transects (SWMM)
A transect is a user-defined, irregular cross-section conduit shape which defines how bottom elevation varies with horizontal distance over the cross section.
Each transect consists of a main channel that starts at the end of the left bank and finishes at the start of the right bank. To provide a more realistic estimates of channel conveyance under high flow conditions, the left and right banks can have a different Manning's roughness to the main channel.
For each 'point' on the cross-section, a station (the distance from the left bank) and a corresponding elevation must be specified which are used to generate the cross-section channel profile. An example is shown below:
